Passport

This is a very very boring question but...

DS is 4 and we are about to apply for a passport for him.

Does anyone know if there will be a very short shelf life on that passport given that he's under five or have I imagined that?

I have tried the passport office but I can't see any reference to this.

Thanks in advance.

5 years for a child, because their appearance changes I think, and 10 years for an adult

5 years. I think it's ridiculous, DS got his first at 4 months, he doesn't look the same now let alone at 5!
