Family weekend away

Hi,I'm very indecisive as to where to go for a city break with our nine year old.
Ideally somewhere that has lots to see & do .Any recommendations greatly appreciated

Within UK, or Europe OK too?

In UK, I'd try York or Edinburgh.

Europe, Rome.

We are looking at Europe, I've been thinking about Copenhagen, Bruge, but I'm not sure where to start my 9 year old would need enertaining so anywhere that is family friendly with things to see & do :)
