Keycamp/Eurocamp - are they all the same?

I mean are they all busy, crowded, close together and noisy?

To give you an idea, we went here last summer (2005) and didn't enjoy it.

I am wondering about N France next summer as it would (hopefully) be cooler. Would like to visit France but can't stand above about 28 degrees (me or DH). I'm wondering if we'd find a nice, quiet campsite but still a few things for kids to do. Not fussed about club, etc.

Or should we just stay at home?

Any advice on what sort of mobile home to go for? - I'm a bit dazed by all the descriptions in the brochures....

2 adults + 3 kids

If we book directly with the site will the mobile homes be the same as if we book through one of the tour operators or will they be older and not so nice?

Blandmum · 14/01/2007 09:34

How old are the kids, and how OK will you be with sleeping in the living room?

We have gone for two and three bedroom 'vans, the latter do have more room. You'll be able to all get into a two bedroom 'van, but you will have a lot more storage space/ space to move in a three bedroom van.

100PerCentCod · 14/01/2007 09:36

we have three kids last hol they were 7 5 adn 3

we have had three bedroom tow bathroom ones but foudn the exra bathroom a waste of time as the whoers dont bothe get hot at the same time

Hi all,

We have two mobile homes available for rent in Camping la Sirene in Argeles sur Mer, southern France. This is a really popular site and all the big companies have mobiles on it. The mobiles are really well equipped with lots of home comforts that you wouldn't get with Keycamp, Canvas etc.. and also things like lots of fans & barbeques which you are sometimes charged extra for, are included free. If anybody is interested in having a look at them our website is www.frenchmobilehomes.com & we can be contacted through that for prices, availability etc..

100PerCentCod · 14/01/2007 17:04

ooh lovely
wonder if dh coudl be prevailed upon to cash in hsi airmiles at easter
cna you giev me a rough idea fo a larger mobile home at easter?

KTeePee · 14/01/2007 22:03

Kids will be 10, 6 and 3 in the summer. They can share a bedroom but I would prefer if our bed was in a proper bedroom (not the living room). I'm not too bothered about kids clubs tbh (but would probably give them a go if there was one there...)

Haven't stayed in a mobile home with my lot before so am feeling ever so slightly nervous (though did stay in them as a child...). Also, will the homes be close together that we will be forced to interact with our neighbours or will they be far enough apart so we can ignore them without being obviously antisocial?

auntyquated · 14/01/2007 22:09

wwe went with keycamp the first year but since then have booked direct, saving about £1000 on keycamp price for 2 weeks in august.

you don't get the keycamp kids club but they can go to the site kidsclub which is the same sort of thing only multi-lingual

auntyquated · 14/01/2007 22:11

i would recommend this

and this

KTeePee · 14/01/2007 22:14

Thanks for the recommendations. We had been thinking of going by the coast (maybe the Vendee) but would definitely consider inland if there was a good pool on site.

auntyquated · 14/01/2007 22:20

look at the keycamp/eurosite brouchures then google search the name of the site and contact them direct

100PerCentCod · 14/01/2007 22:51

we went to a place in royan
very good but BIG - good fo your 10 year old
le plamyre ( lok at keycamp) think wiht sucha na ge range two bedrooms for kids is good
the grand 43b was good that our bedroom was BIG wiht dressing table and all and an " ensuite"

100PerCentCod · 14/01/2007 22:52

KTP come iht us to le grangeoire

KTeePee · 15/01/2007 13:25

Thanks for the invite Cod!

I think dh and I are having trouble getting our heads around this because it is not the type of holiday we would go for ourselves tbh (but we know the kids will probably love it...)

plus it seems very expensive for a mobile home....

auntyquated · 15/01/2007 18:52

you are MAD i tell you --- MAD

One week in le garangeoire in august with keycamp is £1443 for a 3 bedroomed van

book direct with the site and it is 829.00 EUR = £546.02

but you will have to pay your ferry on top of that which Dover-Calais is about £120

KTeePee · 22/01/2007 11:27

B*er - thought we had found a nice site with vacancies we could book direct - they have just emailed to say they are fully booked after all for the whole of the UK summer holidays

Really don't see the point in having an internet booking system if it's not kept up-to-date......

CODNoMore · 22/01/2007 11:29

yes but they inclide loads off equipment and kids clubs etc
i knwo its chepaer but we want a HUGE van too
