Fly-Drive to Nice: Hiring a retro Campervan to tour Provence

We're looking for something different and relaxing in September and have been toying with the idea of hiring a VW Camper to travel around the South of France without having to base ourselves in one area. The 'places to explore' page on SunHatFrance website makes me want to go there! (We booked a holiday with them years ago when our son was in primary school.)

However, I have a feeling that Campervans are for younger and/or smaller families - take a look at www.sunhatfrance.com/category/camper-vans/ - their campervans offer a 3/4 bed and a child's double. I think it might be 'dad' in the 3/4 bed, me in the children's bed and our large teenage son outside in the awning!

Does anyone have any experience of whether three adults can comfortably fit?
