travel with out of date french passpot

hi can anyone help my husband and i are travelling from spain to england end july n his french passport is out of date he used to b ok with travelling on it before n we cant get an appt in madrid for 3 months to renew n when we stay in england we cant get an apt there in french emmbassy while we are there any suggestions welcome please we are travelling hopefully by ferry from calais to dover ??

I would be surprised if he manages to get through with an out of date passport. My PIL got stopped at the airport and were not allowed to travel with an expired passport.

Does he not have french ID card he can use instead? Alternatively, surely he could get a new passport in France at some point in the next month?

How out of date is it?

Have you rung the french embassy where you are now? What do they say?

You will not be able to enter England at all on any out of date passport.

Where in Spain are you? Can you pop over the border?

It takes less than 2 weeks to renew a UK passport.

He can use his French ID card instead.
