Best digs for a three day weekend with two couples and two babies (within 4 hour drive of London!)

We have friends with a baby the same age as our baby... and we were wanting to go away for the New Year's Eve weekend somewhere that isn't too far from London.

Any ideas? Rent a cottage? A cabin? Who does good short lets for these kinds of things?

Any and all input very appreciated!!

We were thinking renting a cottage/villa/flat would be easier with the two babies than trying to do a hotel maybe?

it seems a lot of cottages only rent by the week, any good places to look for a long weekend?

new forest sandy balls? expensive though for new year!
