holiday with elderly parents who have limited mobility

I don't know if specialist providers but I found a lovely room in a Norfolk hotel for oct last year that was amazingly well kitted out through booking.com I think

The other thing that was the only holiday I could really see my parents managing was a canal boat. There are specialist providers there and rome (? On the Thames ) are wider but the narrowness for my ancient parents to hang onto stuff to get about would have been a plus. In the end we decided we probably couldn't have got mum on the boat - a shame as she could have sat and watched the world go by quite happily.

When my parents could go on holiday on their own static caravans were great. Compact, predictable etc. Thry preferred that to cottages that could be " spacious" meaning it's a blooming long way to the loo.....or have odd steps to trip over etc.

definitely UK only and somewhere around Norfolk would be perfect, could you let me know the name?

dad uses a wheely thing so a boat definitely not an option. shame as they would have enjoyed it too

it's probably the last holiday they'll make but there are so many requirements I fear it will be impossible

The disabled room is the converted " Victoriana bar" it's huge ( if you wanted/ needed you could stay there too - double and single bed and space for gues beds, 2 electric recliners , table for eating fush and chips and even a fridge) . The bathroom was great too.

The hotel itself is quirky and a bit faded but breakfast was fab with a sea view as well. All in all it was pretty perfect for us( though it was still bloody hard work as mum was near wheelchair bound and dad has dementia). We wheeled alomg the seafront from the hotel and ate just down the road in a lovely pub. Visted several other places that we went to as kids.

It was the last holiday we had with mum, and it was pretty much the best it coul have been ...sniffle.

If that sounds like the sort of thing you are looking for grab it!

If you speak to the local tourist board in the area that you want to visit, they keep details of rooms that are graded for use by people with limited mobility or other disabilities as there is a national grading scheme. my parents usually search there first once they have chosen somewhere to go.
