What to do in London for a day after Legoland, before we fly home?

Hi I'm looking for advice about what to do in London with 3 kids and luggage for a full day.
We check out of Legoland hotel on Friday morning but don't fly out of heathrow until late Friday eve and I don't know what I can do with the Kids. We have never been to London before, I've no idea how long it would take us to get into London and no clue where to go then. We have no car obviously and we will have 3 days or luggage for the 5 of us, although I'm going to try my best to pack light! My kids are 8 6 and 3.

I'd be grateful for any advice anyone could give me.

LEGOLAND is in Windsor... could you maybe ask if you can leave the luggage somewhere secure at the hotel and go into Windsor for the day, to the castle? There are buses that run between Windsor and LEGOLAND. You could then return to LEGOLAND for your luggage and get a cab to Heathrow?
(The word LEGOLAND is changing itself to Capital letters, it isn't me!)

Leave your luggage at the hotel and take a bus into Windsor town for the day - explore the castle and go shopping. Then back to hotel to collect luggage and head to the airport. Would be my preference - less potential for getting delayed and missing your flight.

You could go into London on the Heathrow Express via Heathrow and leave your luggage at the airport - I guess there must be left luggage facilities there?

X-post.

The hotel will store your luggage for you till you need to collect it. I would not bother with travelling into London at all.

(Luggage can be left at LHR but they will charge you £10 per item left with them).

I would explore Windsor Castle and the town itself for the day.

I agree, the castle and the town are lovely. Smile

I love London, and have been a few times with my kids. But it is very tiring, busy and hot.
Absolutely agree best to do the castle etc in Windsor. we have done it and my boys loved it.

Sorry, also, just a thought. My boys love the airport,we tend to go early to give them an hour to ogle the planes taking off/landing upclose. So mange getting their early wouldn't be too bad?

I might be inclined to go and see the stuff you saw in model form - and the easiest way is an open topped bus tour. you can prep it the day before making sure they look at the right bit of the model.

You can leave luggage at paddington ready to get the heathrow express in the evening. it IS £10 per item though.

don't use the heathrow express unless you are made of money. Take the tube.

I agree that a day in Windsor makes much more sense.
