I thought I'd start a new thread as number 2 is nearly full.

We haven't got ours booked yet. But we are planning on going August 2016. DH and I both turn 30 in the next 11 months so it's like a big birthday holiday.

Sad Shifty. Hoping he gets better soon.

HermioneWeasley · 22/07/2015 11:51

good we did a night at RPR to get the early opening and express passes - it worked really well and the hotel is lovely.

We also bought 14 day universal passes because it was the same price as daily so I'm sure you've not been "had"!

Enjoy

HermioneWeasley · 22/07/2015 11:52

shifty what awful timing. Hope he's better soon

ShiftyFades · 22/07/2015 12:40

We are due to fly on 11thAug, I've been to see him this morning and he's told me where all the documents are so I can start contacting companies to cancel their stuff. He was a bit brighter this morning thank goodness, yesterday I was really worried Sad

McKayz · 22/07/2015 15:04

Oh Shifty. Your poor Dad. I hope he's better soon.

Did your sister get her passport sorted?

OP posts:
ShiftyFades · 22/07/2015 20:09

Yes, she finally has it! I need to do their Estas now, pop their details on the flight info etc.
Feels so sad to be booking fast passes when Dad isn't going Sad

PandasRock · 22/07/2015 22:34

Oh Shifty, I'm so sorry. What awful timing. I hope your dad continues to feel better.

ShiftyFades · 24/07/2015 00:09

He's not doing well today Sad
I have all the passports now so will do their Estas tomorrow and start cancelling mum and dads flights, car etc SadSadSadSad

ShiftyFades · 24/07/2015 00:11

Oh, does anyone know how much parking is at Disney, universal, seaworld and Busch please? I need to calculate how much money my sister needs to contribute and make a joint budget to save hassle.

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 24/07/2015 08:47

Sorry he's not doing well :( I suppose there was a bit of you that kept hoping he might be able to make the holiday?

Parking last year was $17 at Disney and I think Universal was about the same. We got the free shuttle from SeaWorld to Busch so didn't have to drive. Don't know about SeaWorld but I had a quick Google and got $17 for that also but not sure how up to date that info is.

HermioneWeasley · 24/07/2015 12:09

shifty its $17/day at Disney (or was in April). We parked at the hotel at universal and paid $20 for one night at the hotel car park.

Can't comment on the others

ShiftyFades · 24/07/2015 16:38

Thanks, it was $17 in April last year at Disney so I expected it to be higher. Maybe I should just go with $20 a day as I'm programming in the odd 2 park day (not both Disney), so we would be covered.
Evening meals, nowhere fancy, pasta / pizza dish, maybe a desert plus soft drinks - $20 or nearer $30 a head?
I wish I'd paid more attention last year Sad

HermioneWeasley · 24/07/2015 20:30

Evening meals varied a lot for us. Ponderosa (2 adults 2 kids) was $48 IIRC but we didn't have any coupons or anything.

Not sure how many are in your group, but I'd budget at least £30/$50 to be on the safe side for evening meals. Lunch in the self serve restaurants in Disney was similar ( maybe $40?)

ShiftyFades · 24/07/2015 23:10

I'm thinking of $30 a day per person for evening meal, of course most will come in under that but for the odd blow out and ice creams etc... So for sister and 2 kids $90 per day.

ShiftyFades · 24/07/2015 23:12

I've actually rounded it up to $100 a day for them as we do have a character breakfast which will add an extra $30+18% service charge per person (and then there's dinner that evening).

HermioneWeasley · 25/07/2015 08:12

I think $100/day for 4 people to cover everything - meals, parking, snacks etc may be a little light, but doable if you take snacks with you and look out for coupons /deals

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 25/07/2015 14:15

What we do when in a group is to all put some money into a kitty - this pays for things like petrol, parking fees, basic shopping etc. Then we buy our own things individually - although I might suggest not incljuding the shopping in it as you can run into "well I won't eat that so I shouldn't pay for it" territory!

BloodyDogHairs · 25/07/2015 14:23

Yeah what we do when my in-laws come with us is when we head to Walmart for the "big" shop we take our own trolleys for our own food/drinks/sun lotion. At the parks we do day about for parking (twice we got waved for free thru when it was my turn...bonus lol). At restaurants I always tell the server that there is 2 parties so we need 2 bills and for gas we just pay half each.

KinkyDorito · 25/07/2015 17:18

.

ShiftyFades · 25/07/2015 23:35

They are a family of 3, and the $100 is only for evening meal and extra drinks / snacks in the parks.
I've worked out a parking and fuel budget, plus $300 each family (so $600 for 6 people(3 adults, 3children) for 2 weeks) for the villa budget which is: washing up stuff and laundry stuff, packed lunch food and drinks.
We will "let" her manage her $100 a day for the evening meal but we want $250 for the 3.5 days we have her kids at the end, we want that up front se we aren't left with the bill.
Villa, parking and fuel get handed over before we go and sits in a joint pile... That way she will retain dignity (my Dad is funding ALL of her money), but we will be happy that she doesn't leave us in the shit when she flies back early.

She hasn't arranged travel insurance yet "why do I need that?" Was her response ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

McKayz · 26/07/2015 11:54

How is your Dad doing Shifty?

OP posts:
ShiftyFades · 26/07/2015 14:21

Not great, he's tired and has pneumonia. I managed to get my sister to come over and I've done their ESTAs and travel insurance. There was no offer of money / payment so I just did it myself, no word of thanks either BlushHmm

LucasNorthsTwiglets · 26/07/2015 16:02

Ugh, Shifty - so sorry your sister is being a bit of an arse about it all :(

McKayz · 26/07/2015 17:24

I'm sorry she's being such a pain about it. Sad

HermioneWeasley · 26/07/2015 19:07

shifty obviously I've missed the backstory but your sister sounds like a PITA
