I thought I'd start a new thread as number 2 is nearly full.

thread 2

We haven't got ours booked yet. But we are planning on going August 2016. DH and I both turn 30 in the next 11 months so it's like a big birthday holiday.

Hope your Dad gets better soon Shifty and sorry you're having a time of it with your sister. She definitely needs the insurance though - to have DH's cuts cleaned up at the ER cost $900!!!

ShiftyFades · 26/07/2015 22:50

Blimey strawberry, what happened to him.
She turned her nose up at the schedule I have made to ensure we go to every park, fit in the things she specifically wants to do (Kennedy and Busch which We (me, DH &DS) weren't going to do because Busch isn't suitable for DS or me and we did Kennedy last year, but now that Dad isn't going it's only us with a car so we are changing our plans to accommodate her requests. It's fair as it's everyone's holiday but there's no gratitude, no offer to do any driving etc.
She laughed at the madness of me getting up at 4:45 each day to book fast passes so we could get the 7 Dwarfs ride..... No, "blimey, thanks for doing that".
So entitled and rude. She isn't paying a penny but we are forking out £5k, she has it all paid for!! Show some gratitude and say thank you Hmm

McKayz · 30/07/2015 08:36

Shifty I am sorry your sister is so ungrateful. I hope your Dad is starting to feel better.

We are currently trying to work out if we should do our 2 days at Universal together, need to work out if it is cheaper to hire a car for 2 days in a row or not.

McKayz, is staying overnight in a Universal hotel an option? You get free Express passes in all hotels except Cabana Bay (& Sapphire Falls?) and that makes an incredible difference. If you can do that then I really recommend it (therefore doing your 2 days together). We'd never do it any other way now. Royal Pacific is the cheapest hotel for the free passes...

McKayz · 31/07/2015 12:11

No I don't think it'll be possible. It adds too much to the cost. The flights are £800 more if we fly on the Saturday instead of the Tuesday.

We're going to have a look. We are meant to come home on August 30th which is a Tuesday. So we are going to look into coming home the Thursday. As long as the DC don't go back on the 1st!

Could you go during your holiday instead of at the end? We stay in a villa but always have a stay at Universal halfway through the holiday - I know you're wasting a night of whatever accomodation you've already paid for but it's worth it, for us.

TheChippendenSpook · 02/08/2015 11:12

We're going soon! The weather doesn't look too great out there at the moment!

aleC4 · 02/08/2015 20:46

OMG we are flying out tomorrow.
First time for all of us and kids are sooo excited. I am just a little stressed that a) I have forgotten something really important and b) the weather looks crap and I thought I had paid for sunshine with a few thunderstorms not torrential rain!

BaconAndAvocado · 04/08/2015 16:50

aleC4 we go in 4 days and it's our first family trip too!

Lots and lots and lots of planning, expense and excitement later it's actually happening!

I've just been on the Dibb and read about the weather Shock. At least it will take the edge off the heat........!

Have a fab time!

ShiftyFades · 06/08/2015 15:36

5 more sleeps for us!!! Whoop whoop!
Good news - Dad is out of hospital, he's sooo weak it's unbelievable, but he's out. Smile
Sister came over last night, sorted some practical things out like the fact that we aren't driving her back to the villa to cook so, given that she doesn't want to drive her own car, she's got to eat out each evening, as is the norm. So the arguments are settled but still not a word of thanks, no excitement, just moaning. I do wonder why she's going! I love her dearly but her sense of entitlement does my head in.

Anyway, I've been peacekeeping as DH was ready to throttle her! It's all sorted now and I've told her that this holiday is now full of compromises for everyone and detailed that we are giving up DS's second day at SeaWorld for Kennedy, and our extra day at Magic for Busch, but we know how important they are for her so put them first. But it also means she has to go to a golf shop with DH as he wants new clubs!!! You'd think I'd farted in her face when he said that Grin
She's starting to show some interest on that she wanted to know what seats we are in on the plane.... I booked them in Jan Confused

ShiftyFades · 06/08/2015 15:37

And don't worry about weather, we had the same when we went in Sept a few years ago - there's 20-60 mins of rain and then heat and sunshine the rest of the day. Grin

ShiftyFades - that is how it NORMALLY is, however, not how it has been this summer at all - there were whole days of rain - consistent, persistent rain - flooded out areas near Tampa, shut the park for a whole day at Busch Gardens, all outdoor rides closed at Disney and Universal for over half a day at a time.

However, normal weather has resumed!

Goodbetterbest · 09/08/2015 22:37

We're here. 32 degrees today and a brief shower. Only had one torrential down pour since we got here 4 days ago.

Universal was amazing.

ShiftyFades · 09/08/2015 23:36

Blimey, fingers crossed that normality continues for the next two weeks!!!

2 sleeps.... GrinGrinGrinGrin

SomewhereIBelong · 10/08/2015 07:48

oooooooo I'm envious - we go at Easter.... seems a lonnnnnnng time to go... have a great time!

Goodbetterbest · 10/08/2015 12:32

Ha! Had a torrential downpour at dinner time last night. Got absolutely drenched and squelched around Epcot.

The Light show/fireworks were fab though!

Goodbetterbest · 10/08/2015 12:54

Footwear is really important! Don't just bring one pair of trainers. Loads of socks too.

You will get wet, either on rides or in rain. Loathed as I am to say this out loud I wish I'd brought Crocs!

Heels99 · 10/08/2015 19:17

Can I jOin?
Just booked!
May 2016 9 nights Disney beach club with deluxe dining, only doing disneyworld not universal or sea world
1 night near Kennedy
5 nights captiva

So...
How many days do I allow in each park?
I can't get my head round the nighttime firework shows, can anyone explain

Thanks!

Heels99 · 10/08/2015 19:36

Also advice please on staying cool in the heat especially when queuing!

Goodbetterbest · 10/08/2015 23:08

Most of the queues have fans so once you're in the shade it's not bad.

Goodbetterbest · 10/08/2015 23:43

It is bloody hot. Not much you can do about it - lots of water, shade, fans (they sell fans which spray water for $20.

Everything is priced without the 6.5% tax, so it always comes to slightly more than you think.

We're on the Disney Quick Dining plan - so lots of flexibility. Food isn't bad, but not always sit down (air con) dining in the parks.

ShiftyFades · 11/08/2015 00:28

It's today!!! Whoop whoop, leaving in 5.5 hrs..... Best get to bed GrinGrinGrin

Goodbetterbest · 11/08/2015 02:30

Have an amazing time Shifty! Grin
