Ideas for keeping two three year olds amused during a long travel day?

We're finally taking our twin three year olds on a holiday involving a plane and I've worked out that it's going to be about ten hours of travelling. Very grateful for any ideas of things to take that I can amuse them with. We'lol have an iPad and headphones but I'd like to have other options up my sleeve - pad + crayons, stickers,......um?

We took our three year old twins to Tenerife recently (although not the first time on a plane). First have you prebooked seats to sit together - we didn't and ended up sat apart which was not great...

Previous trips I used to stress trying to get them fed at the airport but this time realised that taking a picnic lunch on the plane used up a good 30 mins.
Otherwise Sticker books, iPad with lots of TV/films downloaded , iPhone for apps, drawing/colouring books, little toys (new) - I have heard of people wrapping up each toy but I didn't get time

Not got twins but do a long journey regularly with 2 little ones. First, get them excited about the journey, aeroplane etc and that might carry them through a lot of it. Lots of novelty, so brand new cheap little colouring book, pens, stickers, plastecine, plus lots of little snacks but not too much sugar.

I used richard scarry's book "at the airport" before the flight to get them to look out for things at the airport/on the aeroplane.

Then alternated between programmes/films on tablet, wipe clean travel cards/puzzles, food (bought a stash of sandwiches and snacks from boots), stickers/magazines, simple card games like snap (or happy families or similar), book/MP3 combinations where they turn the page at the right point.

Have you got an earphone splitter so they can share if there's only one iPad? Try to avoid the fun starting for the first half hour or so to eek it out. 10hrs in one go? I'd start practising if that's the case & go on 2-3 hour coach trips!

Oh I assumed the 10 hours was from leaving your house to arriving at holiday ie including airport time and transfers? Not a 10 hour flight - if so take 2 iPads if you can or battery will run out!
