La Serignan Plage and foood

We're off to the Yelloh! village for the first time this year in La Serignan Plage and wondered about food. Is it expensive to eat out? What staples would you recommend?

Hi ali23, we went here for the first time last year, and go again this year. It was absolutely brilliant!
Last year we just used the shop on site. We bought bread/pain au choc/croissants at breakfast.
For lunch the kids mostly had paninis/pancakes from the kiosk near the pool. DH and I had a sandwich or panini.
Dinner we often got pizza/pasta take away from the restaurant at the plaza,or I cooked pasta,omelettes,salad or something easy.
TBH I don't really want to cook much on holiday.
This year we are going to go to the hypermarket nearby at the beginning and stock up on some things there. We are also considering buying a small BBQ there.
There is a butchers/fishmonger on site.
As we plan on going to the hypermarket, we wot bring food. Things I do have on my list to bring are...
DVD player & DVDs in case it rains/for early risers.
Plenty of plug adaptors
After bite & anti bite, also some anti bug candles for the evening.
Towels-theirs are a bit small.
Kites,for the beach in the evenings.
When are you going and what type of cabin have you got?

Forgot to add on this to eat in the restaurant at the plaza is expensive,I think. We didn't bother, but I heard it was about €150 for 4. I didn't think the food looked great for the money,plus it was the same food we were getting from the take away.

We went a few years ago and had a fab time. The onsite shops are pretty good, but obviously more expensive than stocking up at the hypermarket.
I'd get some basics/fruit/wine etc at the hypermarket and supplement that with fresh bread/fish etc from the on site shops. There are some lovely local markets too (I think we went to the one at Valras).
We mostly self-catered (BBQed), but I definitely recommend the takeaway paella!

I was there last year. We found it cheap enough to eat out but we're not coming from the UK so have different expectations of cost? If you are, with the strong pound, I still think you'll find it reasonable enough.
There are lots of lovely restaurants down along the seafront in Portiragnes, very reasonable, especially the set menus. Lots of lovely oysters and seafood.
We found the campsite takeaways and restaurant overpriced compared to proper restaurants in the town.

We frequently go to that area at all times of the year but stay slightly inland - it's beautiful and there's loads to do if you want to escape the beach.
I don't know the restaurants in Serignan Plage but there are restaurants in Serignan (which is slightly inland) in the market place in the town centre where you can sit outside under the plane trees and have a 3 course meal including wine for around €15. They all have child menus as well.
The Carrefour hypermarket in Serignan is expensive (it allegedly puts its prices up in the summer to take advantage of tourists!) but there are other hypermarkets in Beziers (Auchan, Geant Casino and Leclerc) which are more reasonable. There is also a Lidl and an Aldi in Serignan which are great for most food but you can't get fresh milk there - you have to go to a "proper" supermarket.
Theres a big fish market in Valras which I think is open every day and also loads of restaurants in Valras most of which have reasonably priced set menus.
