hi everyone,

im expecting twin boys in august, and was just wondering when people generally start taking babies/children abroad?
is it practical? easy? not worth the bother?
would most advise staying in the uk or think sod it, and go abroad?
all and any advice greatly appreciated Smile

We went away to the UK when our twins were 6 months old and then to Mallorca when about 9months old. Took the in-laws when we went overseas, although think we'd have been ok on our own as they were useless. If you do decide to fly, some airlines only allow 1 infant per row so we had to sit apart (next row so wasn't an issue). There are some companies that provide all the stuff you need eg travel cots, high chairs, even nappies - . Babyfriendlyboltholes and totstotravel

We had an older one too so wanted to take her to disneyland Paris before starting school. We took her, aged 4, when dtds were 6 months 1 week old. At 11 months we had a week in Cornwall and then at 22 months we took them for 3 weeks in calgary, Canada - although we mostly stayed with family.
I think it depends what kind of people you are. Dh and I figured twins were hard work so it didn't matter if we were at home or abroad. If you fly and have them on your laps you will need to sit in different rows as there is only one additional oxygen mask per section. Dh sat across the aisle on one way and behind me on the way back.
Just plan well but be prepared to go with the flow too.

Ours were eight months when we first went abroad, we did self catering at that stage. It was more a change of scene than a holiday!
Then we discovered neilsons holidays with fantastic childcare which were actually proper holidays for us as well as being great for the children.

took my twins to France courtesy of the boat and then drove, to a Haven resort at St Jean de Monts; not a place I'd ever have imagined I'd ever end up in, but perfect PErFECXT for them and for us.

When they were less than a year old we stayed in the UK, rented a cottage in Norfolk which was lovely. So france they were 3 I think. But we found having twins vv hard and we're older, unfitter and lazier than perhaps you are!
