Seville

Going to a family wedding in Seville in July; me, DH and 1yo DD. There will also be various other family members around at different points. We've decided to go for a week to make a trip of it.
Any recommendations- hotels/areas to stay in (quite fancy a hotel room with a small balcony or terrace so can put DD down to sleep and sit out), things to do, restaurant, travel tips etc.
TIA

Hi

Just wanted to answer your post.

Don't know Seville, but we just went to Madrid for a week with DS's and can highly recommend "Spain Select""(was recommended by a fellow M'ner) for fab apartments if you don't find a hotel. They have a concierge service as well and can book restaurants, etc anything really you might want to do.

I was looking at apartments in Seville and there was a great one with a rooftop pool, as this is the
next destination on our wish list.

Hope this helps.

Seville for a week - you are so lucky. We did not stay in Seville but in the Parador at Carmona 30 mins from Seville, which is a lovely hotel. But you may want to be where the action is! All Spanish hotels love babies!
So much to see in Seville but the highlights are subtropical Maria Luisa Park, and the Alcazar and its gardens, plus the cathedral and the Giralda tower. But the best thing about Seville is the atmosphere. Barrio Santa Cruz is the old historic quarter with narrow streets, loads of tapas bars and shops, and apparently there are some great hotels there!
Seville is also a great base to tour western Andalucia generally and see the countryside and white villages. Ronda is really too far on smaller roads, but Cordoba is an hour's drive on the motorway and is really worth a visit. Or down to the coast at Sanlucar de Barrameda (home of gorgeous dry Manzanilla sherry) which I have not been to but have heard is lovely!

Seville in July is going to be HOT. I went in May and it was scorching. So my advice is be prepared for that. Definitely book a hotel/B&B with air con and a pool.
If I remember rightly the Alcazar is lovely and cool (cool buildings and shady gardens) and interesting to visit.
Try "tinto de verano", literal translation is "summer wine", it's red wine with lemonade and it's deliciously refreshing.

Thank you for the replies! Yes, I had heard about the heat- in fact the wedding we are going to is at 7pm due to the day time heat! Will definitely be after air con and a pool.
Off to google the other recommendations now Smile
