Amsterdam with DH

DH has booked us a trip to Amsterdam for a gig in a couple of weeks for my birthday! We are going for three days with no kids!

Anything we must see or must do?

I heartily recommend the organically grown Purple Haze available in Abraxas.

Canal cruise, Rijksmuseum and Anne Frank's House.

Hire bikes, cheaper ones away from the central Dam area; The Van Gogh museum is very good (if you like his paintings).

Shops in PC Hooftstraat if you like browsing in high-end shops, and that is close to the museum quarter. There's a lovely collection of streets, the nine straatjes (or something) with some quirky shops.

Plenty of markets too - personally I never liked the big Cuyp market but there are others.

Book the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museum in advance.
