Berlin/taxis/car seat

Hi all,

Planning a weekend away in Berlin soon and wondered what to do re getting taxis (especially from the airport) with regard to my toddler and car seat? I think it's illegal not to use a car seat - does that mean we can't use taxis?

Thanks so much.

There should be a bus service from the airport to the city. We took the bus and it was inexpensive and good. Check out what the options are from your airport. We did not use a single taxi when we were there. We used the trains/underground which are efficient and plentiful. I would take a collabsible buggy and forget the car seat.

You can pre-order a taxi from the airport to hotel with a car seat - and the bigger taxis (the mini van type ones) all have car seat/booster seats in which can be used. The buses and trains are very easy to use too. We went when DS3 was 7 months and didn't have any problems at all.

Get the train into the city. The rest of the time you can use trams and the underground. Taxis can work out a bit expensive.

I went to Berlin last August, and we used Trains, Trams and our legs the whole time. Apart from when we got lost trying to get back to Hotel from Check Point Charlie - and had to flag down a taxi Blush.
Transport is really good, and can even buy these tickets that get you on all public Transport for free and discounts into attractions, it was really worth the money (we got them in airport). It was an amazing trip, and will really enjoy it. Have Fun Grin
