Any recommendations for where to go for a family activity holiday? France perhaps?

I'm planning a week's holiday somewhere like France where we can organise some activities such as cycling, canoeing, abseiling etc. We have already booked a villa with a pool holiday for August so are looking for something a bit more active for earlier in the year. DH wants to go on a cycling holiday in the Pyrenees but I don't think DC are up to it (nor me for that matter!), though I'm happy to go out for a day's cycling and have a picnic.

We need a planned schedule otherwise DD(13) will just laze around all week and we won't get anything done. Hmm DS is 10 and still quite amenable though can be glued to his devices if allowed to.

Our ideal would be something like this with French Fusion but they only do it in the summer and we want to go in the May half term.

Does anyone know anything similar or have any tips/ suggestions please? Thanks.

Cycling around The Loire? Pretty flat so not too arduous. Canoeing etc as well, chateaux, cooking (or just eating) and wine tasting. Google Backroad Loire for the kind of thing I'm talking about though you can probably just do your own thing quite easily.

Serre Chevalier valley, there's road cycling, gentle or very challenging mountain bike trails, white water rafting (from 8yo), a jungle park in the forest, horseriding, paintballing, hiking, via ferrata...very beautiful, cheap, plenty of family friendly restaurants and the weather when we go every August is amazing.

Oh, just spotted your mention of May...think that's too early for Serre Che too, everything closes down between skiing and summer season Sad
