We'd like to stay in/outside a not-too-touristy village/town - maybe Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, Tamariu Sa Tuna, Begur or Sa Riera - has anyone been to any of these? Does anyone have a recommendation? Don't want a really busy resort with skyscraper hotels and nightlife.

We spent a holiday in Tamariu several years ago. It was an OK little place, but the coarse sand on the beach was so uncomfortable, it was like walking on knives! Not somewhere we would return to.

Sant Marti d'empuries. Gorgeous small hamlet right on the coast in the northern Costa Brava. I know that one of the local restaurants owns villas that they rent out called Villas Coll. We've stayed right in the village at the Las Palmeras property which was fine for us but if you really want a pool too then Villas Coll have a pool. Not really needed IMO as you're 2 mins walk to the beach
