Costa Rica with kids???

Has anyone been to Costa Rica with kids? Would you recommend it? Thanks

I would love to go but its the LA i of direct flight puts me off a bit.

We went to Panama and Costa Rica last summer with dd (age 12) last year and all loved it.

The only bad thing was the flight. We went via LA and would never do that again - Americans make you collect checked luggage to go through transit (we fly a lot and have never had to do that anywhere else) and the queues were horrendous. We had a few hours between flights, but still almost missed our connection.

We flew via New York, but met people who had gone via Miami or Dallas. Costa Rica was fantastic, I would recommend a tour so that you see as many of the different areas as possible (we started on the east coast and finished on the west coast). Driving is fine, but beware of speeding fines, local advice is never to pay more that 20 US dollars.
