Just got some flights to Split for July, 2 adults 2 children...
Any recommendations on where to stay, we are there for 12 days, I like thd look of the islands. Maybe we need to hire a car? Really don't know much about it so any tips approximated.

Brac is gorgeous. We stayed in Milna which is lovely although no sandy beaches. We picked a hire car up at the airport and drove 25 mins to Split harbour. Caught a ferry which took one hour to Brac. Supertar on Brac is meant to be nice and more developed than Milna so depends what you are looking for.

We didn't fancy trying to get off an island and getting a flight the same day ( had visions of no ferries and being trapped!) so we had a couple of days in Trogir at the end. A lovely walled town about 30 mins the other side of the airport but the complete opposite of Brac as quite busy but enjoyable.

Got an apartment through owners direct for Brac. Seemed to be more apartments than villas and we had a lovely one with a shared pool for 3 apartments. Lovely food and reasonable. We will go back but maybe try Hvar next time.

I don't have any useful information, but just wanted to say you lucky thing. We visited Dubrovnik about 8 years ago, and absolutely loved the country. We visited some of the islands in the south, which were lovely. I think it was Mljet which is very green, with a small island with a monastery in the middle of the bigger island. There's a national park (I think it was day trip distance from Split) with beautiful waterfalls which we aim to visit if we ever go back. Sorry this isn't more useful (can't remember the names), but it's a lovely country to visit.

thanks, that's really useful. I'm getting a feel for it :)
I have seen the photos of the waterfalls and would love to get to that bit.
Brac looks lovely :)

Hvar or Brac?
We are looking at villa in Bol, or apartment in Hvar town... can't decide.

Any advice?
