Spain & passports

We're off to Spain in July with our DC.
DS1's passport runs out 9 days after we are due back and DS2's runs out 7 days after we get back.
To save me a phone call does anybody know if this is ok for travelling to Spain?

You don't need any extra time on it. I think though with the remaining time being so short I would try to renew before going!

Yes, as long as it's valid for your return journey it's fine within Europe. However, an expected event could delay your return (Illness, Icelandic ash cloud for eg!) so if I were you I would try and renew before you go.

For what it's worrh, last summer I sent off for my own renewal and a brand new pp for DS and they both came back within a week (true story I swear!) but I know this is unusual. If you're not travelling until July you have plenty of time.

...and the unexpired time will be added on to the new passport.
