Do you need to be right in La Rochelle?

Look on Owners' Direct, Home Away Holiday Rentals and Chez Nous for properties.

I find that the best properties get booked up pretty quickly, so if it is for this summer I would get a move on. The nearer to La Rochelle the more expensive the villa.

Last summer we stayed near to St Jean D'Angley - which is 45 mins drive from La Rochelle. But closer to a lovely beach town called Fouras.

A car is useful to get around and visit other towns. It's a lovely area - I have been going to the Charente for the past few summers.

Try the area around Fontenay le Comte in the South Vendee. Only 35 mins from La Rochelle, easier to get to than the Charente, only half an hour or so from great beaches and the fantastic Puy du Fou is on your doorstep.
