Where would you go for a one-week beach break in SE Asia?

We are taking our 18-month old and 4-year old to visit friends in Singapore in June. We will spend a week with our friends and then would like to spend another week somewhere else in the region. Preferably somewhere with calm, clear waters and good snorkeling. We have already been to Koh Lanta, Hua Hin and Koh Mook in Thailand as well as to Langkawi. Any ideas welcome!

Some friends have recently been to Sri Lanka. Photos looked fabulous.

Hua Hin is lovely. Penang in Malaysia is also very nice. Or Bali/Lombok?

Pangkor on the Malaysian west coast is very nice. Penang is great but the water quality isn't very nice for swimming. Otherwise try Redang on the Malaysian East Coast or Tioman Island. I would like to go to Borneo Sarawak or Sabah as well. I prefer Malaysia to Thailand as Malaysia much more low key and you don't get hassled by touts and beach sellers

Thanks for the replies. I would love to go to Sri Lanka, had thought it might be too far but maybe not. Googled Tioman, looks amazing, just what I was imagining, I will investigate further! Wasn't too sure about Bali as friends who have been said the beaches weren't great and that it's overdeveloped... So much to choose from. Has anyone been to Vietnam?

It's a long time since I've been to Bali, but I imagine a lot of it is overdeveloped now, yes. Some parts were dreadful 20 years ago, though others were still lovely.

I'm not really a beach holiday person tbh, so although I love SE Asia, I might not be best placed to advise.

Me neither Kampeki. DH is the beach fan. I'd prefer lush greenery and some culture, but thought a beach break would be easier with small kids

hard to beat ko lanta, sri lanka for me didnt come close, nice for culture and architecture but for holiday i would choose lanta. people so much nicer. just the transfer is a bit of a drag.

Been to Tioman in June before - the sea wasn't great for diving or snorkelling really.

I would probably suggest one of the Thai islands, Borneo (Kota Kinabalu has good resorts and hotels) or Langkawi.

We were at coconut grove in Tioman, I loved the beach and the water was perfect in September.

I'd recommend kota for ease too, we've stayed in 2 lovely resorts, but not great for snorkelling, but very easy and relaxing.
Would you consider a cruise as that would certainly be easy with the little ones?
