Disney Florida on the Cheap

I realise that Disney Florida will not be cheap but I have been quoted £9K for 2 adults, 3 children and I am not going to pay that, lol!

I would like to fly to Orlando, hire a car for 2 weeks, stay in a villa with a pool fairly close to Disney for 1 week and then hire a villa with a pool somewhere that is central to Florida Keys, Everglades and Miami for the 2nd week. The accommodation doesn't have to be luxury as we will be out for most of the day so is really just somewhere to sleep.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

TIA

You can rent a villa with a pool for about £750 - £1000. That's one that sleeps 10 so a smaller one should be a bit cheaper.

Don't forget to factor in car park costs at Disney.

My parents always do Disney with a villa. Searching for separate flights, villas and park tickets is time consuming but you can get cheap deals. It's cheaper to eat out every night than self cater.

They did the Orlando/Keys trip too and it only got expensive when they all wanted to swim with dolphins!

Does it have to be florida? Disney land in Holywood is brilliant and has universal studios next door (almost) and worked out cheaper for us !

No, I don't suppose it has to be Florida but I've always fancied going to the everglades so thought I could factor that in as I don't want to spend 2 weeks doing theme parks.

Thanks for the replies, I will look into the links etc :-)

When we did Disney land LA we spent a week in Santa Monica and went to Disney for a day and universal for 2 days (no dc with us) could you do something similar in florida - stay a little further away and hire a car?

the cheaper villas are around 35 - 40 minutes away from the main park. if you buy the book - WDW with kids it has a map of where the villas are and you can then do a dedicated search on the ones further out. car hire is easy and relatively cheap plus it gives you the flexibility to go out and about when you want. the drive from Florida keys to WDW is around 6 hours so central would be a bit in the middle of nowhere. you would be better off doing 1 week in Islamorada at the top of the keys and one week in WDW. I wouldn't recommend trying to stay central to both because the drive, then the queueing and the parking would get right on your nerves and be a waste of time. you could get a cheapish motel for a few nights in the keys then drive up to WDW. we did this - 1 wk keys and 2 wks WDW. message me for more details if you want.
