DH & I are off to Rome on Friday for a childfree long weekend. I'd love to hear your best tips for sightseeing, eating & shopping. Are there any best buys or bargains to be had?Any attractions that aren't worth going to?
Thanks.

Mirage, please come back and let us know what a glorious time you had.

Ooooh it was wonderful.Far better than I could have imagined.DH loved it as well & we will definately be going back again.2 days wasn't enough.

We saw the Colloseum, forum,Victor Emmanuel monument,Pantheon,Trevi fountain,St Peters,Saint Maria in Travastere,Trajan's column,Piazza Rotunda,Venizia,Navona,Fiore del campo,Spanish steps & so many other beautiful buildings that my head is still spinning. We didn't get into the Sistine chapel,as it is shut on Sundays, but that is a good excuse to go back.

We didn't do any shopping, apart from my buying some Italian veg seeds to grow at home & a priest calender.

I have to say that Italian men are simply the best looking men I have ever seen.DH told me off for making eyes at a waiter on Friday night. The food & wine were fantastic & cheaper than we had expected too.I have put on weight despite the walkng we did.

I didn't expect to be so overwhemed by St Peters, but we were both speechless when we got inside, there are no words to describe it.

Thanks for all your advice. We will definately be returning, especially as the dd's were so well behaved that my mum has said that we ought to go again for a week & that she'll be more than happy to have them.I'd better start saving up again.

Just to add, that I can hardly walk now as my legs hurt so much.I dread to think how many miles we covered!

FANTASTIC Mirage! It sounds like you covered pretty much everything that we did! It is a great place isn't it? I thought of you with envy on Saturday!

Brilliant, its always great to get feedback and to hear how people have got on.

We loved Rome, I liked it because it was so compact, but absolutely chocca of the most AMAZING things.
