Travel insurance - are there special covers if you're pregnant?

We're off to Australia for Christmas (hurrah!) and I'm going to be 26 weeks pregnant for the return journey so I'll be well in the recommended guidlines for travelling when pregnant.

What I'd like to know though is if there is any special travel cover I should take out apart from the standard cover?

I'd really appreciate your thoughts and to hear your experiences.

Thanks,
Natalie

I would just check that your policy covers pregnancy . I would contact the underwriter direct and get them to give you the ok . Most cover as normal but I have seen a couple that have some small print. You might need a letter from your Gp stating that you have a normal pregnancy and you have been having the correct check ups etc etc.
Some policies you can pay more to reduce the excess or they will cover for pregnancy needless to say they cost more. There is an insurance helpline that can put you intouch with companies that specialise in specific cover but cant find number ..

Happy Holidays !

That's great Rosa5, thanks for this. I'll make sure I ask about the policy covering pregnancy and will also be sure to get the letter from the doc.

Thanks, Nx
