Corfu Old Town?

Any advice or local knowledge would be very much appreciated - we even have a friend in Corfu and the apartments suggested are closed until May!

We're booked to fly to Corfu end of April for the bank holiday weekend - 4 women looking for an apartment in the old town area.

Has anyone stayed there before? Just needs to be safe and homely.

We stayed in a village nearby in a nice but basic little hotel, so I'm afraid I can't help with apartment reca, but presumably you've tried airbnb, holidaylettings, etc? Or look via tripadvisor - sort by most highly-rated or similar?
