Cheap holidays end of June - where to start looking?

My ds and his gf (both first yr students - so no money!) were asking me where to start looking for a bargain break in the sun.

I've always had to book in the School holidays, so had no idea where to start, but said I'd ask here for him - as we all know by now that someone on MN has the answer to every question.

Do 'last minute' bookings work out well?
Are there any particular sites they should look at?
Where do the skilled MNers pick up their bargains from please?

Thanks

What kind of holiday are they looking for? Clubbing? Beach? Etc.

Best thing is booking flights and apartments or hotel seperatly. Ryanair have some good prices for last week in June. Girona and Faro are usually good value for flights. Also look at Malta as well.

Then look at Booking.com, or Allpha rooms for hotel.
We've had some bargains booking a package through sunshine holidays!
Will be loads of choice for that time of year.

Thanks Celtic
MrsRaegan - not really clubbing, just want some sun / swimming / lazing about / meals out - wouldn't mind the odd bit of a club or dancing but not all night crazed 'Ibiza image' type stuff

It may depend where they're flying from? Scottish (and Irish I think!) schools start to break up from 24th June onwards so some airports might start getting busy around then if you're looking at family friendly destinations.

Birmingham, ideàlly. (Although would get a bus to another airport is feasible).
We dont break up until 3rd week into July

They should be fine I would think then depending on where they're heading.

I only mention it because we're driving from Glasgow to Manchester at the end of June for our holiday because it really is saving us that much money! I would think some other Scottish families might do the same

remind them to buy their travel insurance as they book - although not from a travel agent.

main thing is to be back before anyone starts their school holidays. June is a beautiful time to be in Europe.

Thanks ladies - good point - I bet he's not thought about travel insurance Smile
