Cheap mobile homes/chalets in nice small site in France or N. Europe

I'm trying to find a two-bed mobile home or chalet kind of thing on a small site (ideally only about 20 pitches, certainly not more than 100ish) in northern or central France, or Belgium, Netherlands, Germany (basically not too far south cos we don't like it hot). I don't want a kids club, just somewhere for the kids to run around and make friends (ideally a pool on site).

But everything I find is so expensive! Like £800 or £900 a week, which is what I reckon on paying for a nice gite. Of course we've got to go in the school hols (although could do the last week in August, which sometimes makes it cheaper) But I was hoping to do this on the cheap.

Can anyone recommend anything that's much cheaper?

I suggest going in the May school holiday. Its half the price of august or less, and less busy

Have a look at the cool camping website

Thanks - we do want July/August because we want to go for two weeks - the sense of days and days ahead of us is part of what makes it a holiday and we just don't get that with a week.

Will try cool camping website, thanks.

Not sure where to look sorry but have just paid £900/week in a 6 bedroom house with huge garden in Normandy in August! Have seen nice 3 bedroom villas for as little as £550 so that sounds WAY too much... Good luck, I'm sure you'll find something.

Ooh, can you point me to your £550 3 bed villas?! I don't particularly want to stay in a mobile home or chalet, was just thinking it would be cheap and have other kids to play with on hand.

have you looked on air bnb

I believe the Dutch schools start back earlier than English ones, so for the Netherlands I suggest you specifically look at prices in the second half of August.

Thanks anyquestions, I didn't know that about Dutch schools. I knew French schools usually go back a week earlier, but lots of French sites don't seem to drop their prices until the end of August, presumably because they have lots of English visitors.
