"I am very sorry, your booking isn't showing up on the computer, so how about we fly you back Virgin Upper Class ?"

Result.

The plane was over-sold or something like that and as we were checking in so early we've just been upgraded to Upper Class. We didn't get an invitation into the lounge (I don't think they give them to upgrades) but I slid through looking executively busy and stressed and am now hiding at the back with dw and dd enjoying a fruit cocktail and a light meal

So, have we had a busy week on MN ? I know Bubb has had TeeBeeCee, but has everyone else been on their best behaviour ?

Are you on the plane atm? Or am I being Ultra-thick?

Result!

expatinscotland · 28/10/2006 23:32

Definitely NOT EasyJet. Judging from 'Airline', they'd have just told you to pay £1000 or go fuck yourself.

Upper Class Lounge. I jumped on an open wifi network !

Nice one!

We have been visiting family in Connecticut.

All the trees were doing their autumn thing. The place was stunning. We looked at a house (BIL is involved in real estate) on the edge of a nature reserve. The view was of forest and giant boulders and undulating terrain and it was gorgeous and it was all covered in yellow leaves and the moss was just peaking through and it had a three car garage and it cost about £250K.

We are pondering a trial period out here. It was pretty.

You'd bet pretty close to FA for £250K here.

They are crap at gardening here too. I could open up an English Nursery with Plants of Distinction and do their gardens to look posh. They'd love it.

Weekends I'll shoot pictures of kids, LOL.

Sounds lovely hub. As for blagging Upper Class......

hub2dee · 28/10/2006 23:58

Hey, I have a nice smile, what can I say ?

LOL: The lady who let us in (I think her terminal was on the blink) just came over and bust us pmsl. DW asked nicely if she wanted us to leave. She's letting us stay, but walked away muttering about an $8000 ticket etc. etc.

ho hum.

Back home. Head spinning. London streets are weird and everything is squashed in.

I love flying Virgin, they're the best!
Once got offered a return flight anywhere in the world during the next year and a 5 star hotel for the night if I'd give up my seat, as they'd over booked

hub2dee · 29/10/2006 10:18

What's a GGF btw cf ?

FWIW, I didn't honestly think Upper Class was all that. The salad and cocktail in the airport lounge beforehand could be had in any bar, you could spend £5 on magazines and get a few glossies, and the seats when flat I thought were fairly narrow and uncomfortable. It was nicer just to recline tbh, and a lot easier with a babe in arms IYSWIM... (although having said that another couple near us with a much younger baby were all flat and seemed to have a nice doze).

If you need more space / pampering / quicker checkin / bigger luggage allowance I'd only ever go Premium Economy I think. The cost for Upper Class (unless ultra-discounted just doesn't seem to make much sense). The food was nice, but New York - London is so short it's all a bit rushed.

beat me to the question hub "What's a GGF btw cf ?"

hub2dee · 29/10/2006 10:26

God-daughter maybe ?

Great Grandfather? But #1 would imply she has several which doesn;t seem very likely?

PretendFiend · 29/10/2006 10:40

It's Gay Godfather No 1

(Needless to say there is also a GGF No 2)
