10 days in Malaysia - what would you recommend?

Have possibility of going to Malaysia for c. 10 days over easter hols. Have flights on hold but before I commit, want to know what's worth doing. Would be me and DS (13). Any tips or advice about what to do please?

Awesome, in a bonkers clash of Thai, Chinese, Indian, British and Malay cultures melting pot kind of way.

Ipoh is ok if you like tea.

Yes, Tioman, and Malacca, fascinating Chinese town with amazing Buddhist temples, weekend evening street market etc.

Love Malaysia. Langkawi is beautiful, Penang also lovely. a couple of days probably long enough in KL if you are going there. Lots of other great places too (but depends if you are looking for beach, sightseeing etc)

good choice of time as that means both coasts have good weather; this is between monsoons.

I also loved Penang island - Georgetown is fascinating and you can always go up the hill to cool off. No decent beaches anywhere near though, pollution problems. Malacca too is fascinating. Long way between them though!

suggest borrowing a Rough Guide from the library and see what appeals.

remember 24/7 insect repellent due to dengue etc. And I hope you aren't Israeli...

Will be in Malaysia last 2 weeks of December. I already have plans for KL. Bird park, aquarium, petrona towers and have booked my hotel there for 4 nights. I desperately need your recommendations. Where to go after KL and explore. I'm thinking Malacca, Port Dickson

I did want to go to langkawi and pennag.
According to google weather in the east of Malaysia isn't ideal in December.

Loved Malaysia.
KL is crazy in a good way
Stayed at the Dana in Langkawi couldn't recommend it more.
George Town is also great you'll have a wonderful time . ( I much preferred Malaysia to Thailand )
