Anyone know the Edinburgh to Elie drive very well?

I need to nip up to Elie on Sunday.

I know its not that far and we could go there and back on Sunday or we could go up on Saturday and stay over. I'd prefer to go up and back on the same day as the kids never sleep well in hotels and I'm not feeling very well and need good sleep.

My question is....is it reasonable to drive up and back on the same day with our dd (5) and dts (2) or is it asking for trouble? DP thinks its about an hours drive but I think its more than that. I don't want them sitting in a car aaaall day.

I have never been to Elie (so whay am I posting, you might well ask) but our friends moved there last year and frequently drive to Edinburgh and back in a day, and their youngest is 2. My friend says it's about an hour, certainly.

Probably too late for you now, Frumpy, but I reckon that if you have any problem at all, it will be the Bridge. At the moment there are fewer booths open at w/ends because they are farting about organising the new toll plaza. For more info, look at the Fife Estuary Transport Authority website here where you can also see webcams.
