Quick question - Can I get off on at a station in between my journey from A to B?

I will be travelling to London St Pancras soon, I pass through a station called Stratford. On my return journey from St Pancras, I would like to stop at this station and visit the shopping centre there, then get back on the train and finish my journey. Can I do this legally on my ticket or do I need to buy a separate ticket from St Pancras to Stratford?

Many thanks

On a normal ticket you can break your journey, yes - just tell the conductor when they stamp it. I've done it without a problem before. Some tickets are restricted though and won't let you.

What ticket type is it? If it's an Advance, you'll have to travel on the train specified on the ticket

Okay thanks

Its just a bog standard ticket that I buy on the day for a fast train that stops at that station.

still might not be allowed. Check when you buy it.

That fast train stops at Stratford International if this is the HS1 train you are getting. They charge a premium for that train service as well.

There are 2 Stratford Stations. Its a completely different stop to Stratford itself (which is on the train line into Liverpool Street).

I would check before you buy your ticket whether you can do this. I have a feeling you will not be able to do as you have planned.

You might've better off and safer buying two single fares. One in to Stratford and one from.

*might be

Its Stratford International!

I will double check when I buy my ticket, just to be on the safe side.

Thanks

Well, all was good! I didn't need to buy another ticket, not sure if this helped my cause but I had asked for a 1 day travel card and I travelled there by tube. Very simple although slightly disappointed as I didn't buy anything! Ho hum!

Thanks everyone
