We went to La Baume in July 03, with Haven. Quite a large campsite, we were situated somewhere in the middle, so bit of a walk to either of the pools.

Frejus old town is lovely, btw.

No, we drove, but I would definitely hire a car. We did a trip to Monaco, which isn't that far, we were there for 2 weeks tho.

Ooh, you picked a good couple of weeks to go, is Johnny likely to be there (swoon!). It really isn't that far to drive; we tried to have one biggish day trip each week, I get stir crazy sitting around a pool for too long. We drove into Italy as well. Have a lovely time, btw.

We went with Keycamp in August and had a tent - our first ever. It's better with a car. We were pleasantly surprised by the site - our older children are 12, 10 and 9 and took their bikes so had lots of independence. We ate out - you'll need a car for that. Go to Bagnols en Foret up the hill - my parents used to live there - there's a restaurant called Le Commerce, and a couple more places. It's a lovely place to sit outside. Pools were good - kids loved them. It is big and impersonal but that's fine with me. Didn't see anything of the reps, but that was fine with us. We like the beach restaurants at St Aygulf (get a table at the front and kids can play in the sand while you sip wine), and my favourite market is a bit of a drive away at Lorgues. Dh and ds went mountain biking on the Esterel. Take table tennis bats - quite a favourite after lunch hobby for us.
Only thing that miffed me - we could have had a much cheaper holiday booking a new mobile home through the site. Avoid large supermarket at Frejus on a Monday at all costs - it's mad. Plenty of smaller ones around and not a bad supermarket on site.

Lots of people go to Ventimiglia market in Italy on a Friday - we prefer BOrdighera on Thursday. Nice places for lunch on seafront. Monaco isn't far at all. Well worth the visit. If you like art Picasso had a place at Vallouris near Grasse and his War and Peace is painted on the walls. Go to St Tropez for pointillism and Seurat. You can do Italy in the morning for the market then stop off at Monaco. I love it. Met dh down there in 1983.

My 12 year old has gone to an all-night Johnny Depp sleep over tonight. I told her he's more my age but she just looked at me with that nearly teenage face...

Meant to add JD will not be there in person, just on the silver screen....
