Soller or Pollensa in Mallorca with children ages 2 and 6

I've booked the flights but now need to find a good place to stay! I've heard good things about. Soller and Pollensa but no idea about good places to stay.

Which place would you recommend and does anyone know of any small hotels/ apartments in either area? We are not going to drive, would prefer a smallish place without loads of entertainment. Pool not essential. I did look at Hotel Bahia in Pollensa but a little over my budget at 1,500 for the week.

Any advice appreciated.

They are all nice areas!
Pollensa is the old town -has a village square and is lovely for evening dining and strolls. Puerto Pollensa is about 10 mins away and has the beach and the pine walk.
Soller is also lovely but quite small and the beach isn't as nice as PP for young children -so I would probably say Puerto Pollensa would be your best bet for children age 2 and 6 and if you aren't going to have a car whilst you are there. That way you have access to plenty of shops and restaurants and beach.

I actually would go to Port Alcudia. I prefer this to the other two.

The beach is even nicer than Port de Pollensa. The hotels are directly at the very sandy beach, shallow water and sand while PdP has a bit of stony sandy beach, not good to build a sandcastle.

Soller and Port de Soller always strike me as 'retired persons' resorts! They are definitely smaller than Pollensa town or Puerto Pollensa.

There is lots of nice sand in Puerto Pollensa, we like the smaller beach by the Pine Walk pedestrianised path. It's separated every so often by a wall or wooden 'break' and it's not very far at all from the the Pine Walk path to the water's edge so it's really easy to keep your eye on little ones. The beach at the other side of the marina is man-made so the sand is lovely and it's nice and wide. The road to Alcudia runs along behind this part of the resort though.

Also, Puerto Pollensa is in a bay so the sea is like a lake. It's perfect for little ones as they can potter about at the edge of the water all day and not be bothered by waves. Alcudia old town is at the opposite end of the bay to Puerto Pollensa but I think the built-up resort is round the other side of the headland so I don't know how calm the sea is there.

Have a read through the Puerto Pollensa forum on Trip Advisor, I think they recommend the Maricel apartments as a quieter place but I don't know how much they cost.

Thanks everyone, I'll have a look on Trip Advisor and look at the Maricel Apartments

Soller beach very pebbly and not overly small child friendly. Lovely place though, small quiet, lots of families when we were there.
