A week in Bordeaux/San Sebastian with a toddler

Hi

We have just booked flights to Bordeaux for a week in April - travelling with a 19 month old! We haven't booked accommodation yet but were thinking of 4 days in Bordeaux city and then driving down to San Sebastian for a few days. Any tips on best places to stay/see, is there enough in Bordeaux for a full week with a toddler or is there somewhere else we should look at in the area?

We are basically a bit clueless when it comes to this part of the world so any advice appreciated!!

Thanks

I don't know about where to stay but these four towns are well worth a visit

Saint-Emilion
Arcachon
Saint-Jean-De-Luz
Fuenterrabia

I don't know about Bordeaux but I live in San Sebastián and have a toddler and it's a brilliant place for him. He loves the aquarium. The carousel on the beach front and the pintxos (perfect toddler size!) the beach has a climbing frame and there's a little amusement park at the top of a mountain that we take the funicular up to.

Obviously we prefer it to France and are biased, but I find northern Spain much more toddler friendly.

Le petit train de la rhune on the border is worth a visit if you have a car, it's a gorgeous train that goes slowly up a Pyrenee with incredible views.

Hondarribia/fuenterribie is gorgeous but not much for toddlers to do there.

Biarritz is very nice, I like buying his clothes there Wink

One of the best places in France for him in the summer is Les Landes just between Bordeaux and Biarritz. Miles of beaches and campsites with quite quaint little activities, a little zoo,
A forest full of monkeys and lots of little swimming pool type places.

The Spain side of the border, San Sebastián is the best place around, Loyola is interesting for a day trip, pasaia, the fort in errenteria or even
Bilbao for the Guggenheim.

Hope that helps!

Thank you both, this is very helpful! I think we are going to book everything this weekend so will definitely look at all of these suggestions

Much appreciated!

Sorry to hijack the thread but do you know of any good campsites near San Sebastián with mobile homes to rent, Zorian? We have a 12,10 and 6 year old so a pool would be good.
Thanks.

I don't know it personally but it gets good reviews in trip Advisor
