Hi

We are going to Madrid at Easter time and my DH has given me a day to myself to go shopping! With the £ strong against the € am hoping my money will a bit further.

I love shoes, so wondering if there are any shops I should definitely go to. after some driving shoes and some summer sandals. Also any clothes shops I can't miss that are different to the UK stuff.

Does Sephora still exist? I used to get some great lip gloss when we went to France and they lasted for ages...

any suggestions would be appreciated. We are staying in
Cortes in the old town (I think).

Many thanks

yes, there are loads of shops in Madrid - but off the top of my head I can't suggest any to you. I never managed to actually shop. (too busy drinking and eating!).

If you look on Trip Advisor - go on the Madrid destination forum - and there are loads of regular travellers to Madrid on there- and some who live in Madrid. You'll get some good replies I bet.

Enjoy Madrid!!!

The department store El Corte Ingles has a Sephora section in its larger stores - I think that the big Madrid Store is in the Paseo de la Castellana area (get a taxi!). I only know the Malaga store well, but its usually a lovely place to shop (shoes, gorgeous bags, designer stuff etc). Its a great shop to spend time in if you don't have much time to wander around. Usually has a nice restaurant too for lunch!

Many thanks for your replies. I shall look into all of them.

I was hoping to pick up some different things, shoes (my top priority), maybe a handbag though my DH surprised me last week with a beautiful bag from LK Bennett I Was keen on but thought the price, was too £££. Was also, thinking scarves and maybe some necklaces. Will just be nice to have a wander and look at different shops! can't wait to go now.??

I normally get off the metro in Gran Via and walk into Chueca. There are plenty of lovely shoe shops around the street called Augusto Figueroa. Have a look in Google - just a few minutes from the station
