Debating where to go for a holiday this year. Have enjoyed UK Center Parcs previously but now DS is school age this is looking very expensive. Can anyone recommend any of the European ones? Is it true its cheaper to go to one of them even accounting for ferry cost etc? Which is the nearest to Calais? Many thanks

Yes def cheaper.
We went to De Kempervennen and our all in price inc bike hire and snowboarding in their indoor snowdome was cheaper. We did go May Half Term which is especially good as it is not a Dutch holiday.

We went to De Vossemeren (Belgium) at Feb half term last year. It was 459 euros for four nights compared to 899 quid for cheapest accommodation at Longleat. No contest! We're going again in May half term.

It took 3 hours to drive once off the shuttle. I think it's one of the closest.

Thank you both - very helpful Flowers. Useful to know about the different holidays. Going to post in chat as well to see if I can get a few more opinions.

We've been to de eemhof and het heijerbos in Holland and another which ive forgotten the name of in Germany. Would definitely recommend the Dutch parks - both a lot cheaper than the UK and all the staff speak brilliant english. We usually find an aldi or lidl not far from the park and stock up on food. Can recommend some excellent day trips too if you fancy a day out of the park. We love Holland. We're trying a french centre Parcs next.

the last week of august is cheap because the dutch have gone back to school. Activities are a lot cheaper than the uk as well. We have been to Kempervennen, het heijebos, hutteheugte, het meerdal, de eemhof and erpeheide. My dc are now late teens and would go back to Kempervennen if we went again.
