kind of following on from my hold luggage thread...

Has anyone tried sending their luggage ahead using one of these door to door luggage services? There are a few companies that seem to do it, send my bags for example. it certainly appeals

I have never used this service here because we usually just walk from the short stay car park straight into T5 so it is less than 100m to bag drop! However, we used the service extensively in Japan when travelling by train. The bullet trains have little luggage storage, so you send the bag ahead and it is collected the night before and is waiting at your hotel when you get there. You just keep an overnight bag and essentials with you. I think forwarding luggage would be really good if you have lots of it and you have to lug it onto airport busses etc. The other way is to book a meet and greet service at the airport which gets you very close to bag drop, especially at T5 Heathrow.
