hotels - how do you choose?!

I'm looking to book a holiday to majorca for september, for the four of us including then 4 year old ds and 18 month old dd. But how on earth do people choose between them all?! We're looking at spending between £2-3k including flights, so I want to get it right, but keep getting overwhelmed by reviews etc.

How do others narrow it down?

Decide what resort you want, get some brochures and pick a dozen hotels, then TripAdviser them to get an idea of what they're really like.

Good luck!

Get a self catering apartment on the Pine Walk in Pollenca. You won't have a pool, but the beach there is perfect for little ones, and it will be just outside your from door.

Front door.

Google "pine walk apartments". You'll easily find a suitable one.

Actually it really comes down to what room you get. You can have a super hotel but maybe one room is large with a balcony and another has a small balconcy overlooking a noisy street.

Just pick something and live with it.

I think with your budget you'll be ok.

I use booking.com and then put in filters.
I would put in the location, then, for example that I wanted it near a beach, with parking, with wifi, kids clubs, indoor swimming pool and see whet it comes up with. You can say how much you want to pay per night and read people's reviews and have a look on the map where a particular apartment is.
If you go through TopCashback you get money back as well!

TripAdvisor, read the lowest star reviews first. Some people complain about things I would never care about.

HungryDam · 28/02/2015 11:25

Personal recommendations and trip advisor, and also how new the hotel is.

Thanks all, have just booked the protur bonaire in cala bona, self catering but we'll upgrade to half board as necessary. I did it over the phone in the end, stopped my dithering! Can't wait, just a shame it's 6 months until we go...
