As above - any recommendations please? Posted in Chat but have just realised it will probably get lost, as it's so busy!

If anyone knows of a good one for beginners, that would be great, thank you!

I used an app called Duolingo for learning Spanish. I believe it was also available to learn German.

What are your reasons for learning?

If you seriously want to learn for more than a holiday, then I would recommend Rosetta Stone. They are expensive but very very good.

If you just want to learn a bit for your hols then the BBC language courses are adequate- bet your local library will have CDs.

Just had a look on plaster and Rosetta Stone have a free app for language learning - worth a go!

play store!!!

Bloody hell. Predictive text on DPs mac is irritating. Don't get these problems on my phone!

A college course will always be best. In the absence of that, I would work with Duolingo and the BBC series

Brilliant, thank you!

I found Duolingo and have started that - I want to learn for my holiday but also it would be good to keep up with it. Then maybe I could do a course.

How useful have you found Duolingo?

It just jumps straight in and I am paying attention to spelling and which words start with capitals, even though they are mid-sentence. Will need to read up on what that is all about!

Nouns have capital letters in German

Duolingo is great for brushing up a language but you need something like BBC to learn the grammar rules

Thank you bonhomme - I will check out the BBC then too :-)
