All inclusive in Portugal recommendations?

Hi thinking of taking our 2 kids away first week of sept and fancy Portugal. I have heard that Cavoreiro ( sorry spell check not helping me on this one!) is lovely and wondered if anyone can recommend anywhere close to beach for an all inclusive week. Many thanks

Bumping!
Or really any recommendations of sonewhere beautiful and fun for kids close to the beach and restaurants - doesn't have to be all inclusive. I'm wasting so much time looking at holidays!

Hi

I can highly recommend Praia de Luz, has a fab sandy beach, calm flat sea in a bay and rock pools for the kids to play in. Enough restaurants to have a good variety so you can pick and choose. Great gelato place on way back from the beach for kids, bit of bribery to walk up the hill to where we were staying. if you want a bigger town then Lagos is only 15 mins away in the car or they have a local bus that can take you there.

You don't need a car if you just want to relax, go to the beach and eat out you could not leave for a week. However there is lots to see further a field so it's worth exploring the beautiful coastline. golf course nearby if DH likes that sort of thing.

About an hour from Faro airport. we flew easy jet from Gatwick.

Doesn't get too hot either for the kids, need a light cardi in the evenings but hot enough in the day say 25. sea breeze comes in the afternoon and it's lovely. Have been in Sept twice (before DS started school), then July and August.

Sorry can't help with AI as we rent villas. Some with a pool and without (make sure you get heating if you get one, the first time we didn't and DS wasn't keen on swimming in it and preferre the sea.

We rarely go back to the Same place twice but there is something about it, the kids still talk about it now and ask when we are going back. I am soo fussy about beaches (from Oz so lots to live up to) but this one was great.

Know what you mean about hunting for holidays, just booked our summer holiday to Croatia and was going bonkers trying to find "the right place" as DH really fussy.

Any more questions fire away.??

Hi

I live in Carvoeiro, but I don't know of any all inclusive resorts here, there aren't even many hotels, it's mostly villas and apartments

Happy to answer any questions!

Thanks so much for your lengthy reply full of info. Can either of you recommend any villas or self catering accommodation. Wow Croatia sounds beautiful, it looks stunning.
Originally we were looking at all inclusive as wanted a complete break after a tough start to the year but now would rather have a great child friendly location.
Costa how long have you lived in Carveiro?

Ps Costa I'd put a post somewhere asking about Monte Santo resort up the hill. Do you know it?

I've lived here 12 years but we've been coming on holiday since the late 80s

Yes I know monte santo, I live quite near it although I've never been inside - it's gated so not for us plebsWink

Hi Costa. Wow I think you qualify as being a local by now then. Haha didn't realise it was gated - prob too up market for us then!

WinkTo be closer to the village and the beach, restaurants etc I'd look at Monte Carvoeiro, Monte Dourado, Colina Verde, some parts of Quinta do Paraiso

Costacoffeeplease · 01/03/2015 21:36

I was a very young newly wed when we first came here - I am getting on, but not quite as old as I seem from that postWink

Thanks Costa I'll get looking. Sounds like you're still a spring chicken!
