What a smashing city it is.

Went to the excellent (and free) national rail museum.

Lunch in Bettry's Tea rooms was excellent.

Walk past the Mister and down through the Shambles, great and very atmospheric.

But the Jorvik centre....what a rip off. Loads of cash and 45-60 minutes of 'entertainment' Very disapointing.

But don't miss tha amazing exhibition of horse hair filled hair nets in the nave of the 15 centuary church next door....very 'trippy!'

Ooooh, I lived in York for 4 years (was a student there...) and loved it! Wish I could live there now but the commute to London would be a bit much for DH... But thankyou for bringing back some lovely memories (is the children's play area bit of the railway museum still good? I remember spending ages with my mum playing with all the signals etc!)

Love York, been quite a few times both with and without kids. There's also a new Dig! archeology 'experience' which we would recommend if anyone's into archeology stuff.

And we loved Jorvik too.
