Can anyone tell me about the various resorts in Barbados.

Looking to go end of July/August with two children 11 & 14.

Any hotel recommendations greatly received.

The Tamarind on the west coast is fantastic. It is perfectly located on the west coast, calm waters for snorkelling and great watersports centre. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and it has great reviews on Tripadvisor too. One of our best family holidays.

Is the west coast the better part to stay and are all the resorts pretty similar?

The west coast is the better party to stay as the south coast is choppier, east coast choppier still and dangerous to swim there.

I've only stayed the Tamarind but I wouldn't say all the resorts are similar. Just down the beach from the Tamarind is the Sandy Lane, a high end resort with prices to match. I think there are a variety of places to stay - we chose the Tamarind as it is well located and family friendly.

I've been here Gawd it was gorgeous and brilliantly situated. It was in a place called St Lawrence Gap, right on the south coast, sort of in between Oistins where they have this amazing fish fry party on a Friday night and Christchurch which was a lovely resort type place. I LOVED it there. We drove round the island and it was by far the nicest :)

I second AWKs suggestion of the Sea Breeze. We stayed there 5 years ago and it was wonderful, DDs were 12 and 9 then. It was lovely and was renovated shortly after we stayed so must be even better now. Just beautiful.

Actually not that it matters but they were 11 and 9!
