Kissimmee vs universal drive, orlando

Please bear with me, I'm planning a drip to disney world, and didn't think I'd have so many decisions to make! I'm overwhelmed!

Anyway, is Kissimmee a good place to stay? I like the look of the hotel, price reasonable, but is it truly 20 mins from the magic kingdom?

And can we go for breakfast off-site? (DH's request). He went when he was 4 and stayed on universal drive, but I don't know which would be better.

Any help would be great!

It's 20 mins drive from the car park of Magic Kingdom,and then from the car park it's another 30 mins or so by the time you've parked, gotten the transit train then the train/ferry.

There are a few Denny's / ihop type eateries around there
