Checking in online & using baggage drop - urgent!!

Hope someone can help me. We're flying out of Heathrow early on Sunday (BA) and are thinking about checking in online tomorrow and using the baggage drop. We're just wondering if anyone's used this before and how it works. We have to take the car seat with us so will this be ok or would we be better checking in the traditional way?

I don't think you can use the online check in if you're travelling with an infant ...

I'm pretty sure you can check the car seat in oversized, even with the online check in ...

We have done this before, albeit pre-DD. It was fine. We checked all our bags in for the hold, and then went off for the afternnon/evening, stayed in hotel nearby and check in the next day was a breeze. You go to a special check in desk, with virtually no queue and it is very quick.

Not sure about the car seat though. Can you phone and ask?

I imagine you could check that it on the day as extra, but then you'd end up in the normal queues possibly - so may not be worth it. Or they may ask you to take it to a seperate check in - for larger or fragile items.

i'd try it (we online checked in with 2 year old but he did have a seat so nqc may be right). print out your boarding passes. then just bag drop and get on plane. much much less hassle.

Ooops - ignre message. For some reason I read it as the check in, at airportm day before,

Did the online check in with Virgin this summer with DD (age 4). Worked well and queue was much shorter than normal one. Car seat had to go to a seperate check in place.

Never managed to do online checkin with a baby. Tedious but true.

Thanks for the very quick replies! We might give it a try but I think I'll ring up tomorrow to find out more - don't want to be at the airport & told we can't take stuff with us!!
