We have a stopover in Milan at the end of July and we're going to break the flight for just over a week.

We're a family with 3 girls aged 11, 8 and 1.

We were thinking to drive to the Dolomites via the lakes. Spend a few days there. Then a couple of days for Verona and Venice and the last day in Milan.

Any thoughts?

And is for agriturismo any good or better hotels?

Thanks!

I like Bergamo - it's a really nice town about half an hour north of Milan. There's a big theme park Gardaland very close to lake Garda. It also has a water park if your kids like stuff like that.

my older two LOVE water parks!

Might be a good trade off for.dragging them around Roman ruins.

Thanks!

Gardaland is fun.
Lake Garda is also really lovely.

The Dolomites are beautiful. Cortina has amazing scenery. There are ski lifts that help you get up the mountains. Bellauno is beautiful as well. Last year we stayed at Piancello. If I went to the Dolomites again I would stay nearer Cortina. Driving is very slow in the Dolomites. The cost of living in the Dolomites is not quite as bad as venice. Italy is very expensive.
