Are you all packed and ready to go?

We aren't packed or ready at all yet, lol Going away in the morning. Have to set off about 5am to get to the tunnel before lunch. Off out to meet my mum later too. He he!!!

Not much to pack really - have DD's stuff sorted. Dark wash load is currently drying; whites and a pink load will go on later. DH will iron tonight and put straight into the case.

Have DD's entertainment packed - essential! Has activity books, reading books, some magnetix, some little doll things (like mini Barbie children), some CDs and also DVDs for her DVD machine in the car.

Seems to have crept up on us this holiday. Really looking forward to getting away though.

We are off to Northern France, here

Hmmm...re packing for northern France. So far has jeans, trousers and jumpers out. Yet, the weather is so mild here! Not sure I will need my big coat this year.

We're going to North Devon for the weekend but the judging by the amount of stuff I've gathered together already we may as well be going for 2 weeks!
We'll be self-catering so rather than waste time going to a supermarket there I'm trying to take most food stuff, plus theres the bedguard (DS's first time alone in a bed as no room for travel cot), booster seat, toys (as I suspect we will have lots of rain), bedding, towels, wellies and waterproofs...etc (oh, and a supply of wine).

Enjoy France!

FIMBOnABroomstick · 20/10/2006 13:09

Not sure if it counts as a holiday but we are going home to Scotland to visit rellies for a week.

EnidVorhees · 20/10/2006 13:34

dh is sneery about in-car dvds

TheDaVinciCod · 20/10/2006 14:01

yes i think they arent necc really

LucyJones · 20/10/2006 14:03

We've got my brother and family coming to stay. Forecats is bloomin' awful though so God knows what we'll do with them...

swedishmum · 20/10/2006 14:41

I thought in-car dvd players were bad until we did a few very long European car journeys. We use it very rarely, and only have it because it was in our 2nd hand car, but with 4 kids it is great.

We're going to Paris, prob Mon to Wed, and dh will be working so just me and the 4 kids. Must remember to buy gin!

Rookiemum · 20/10/2006 16:59

We are off to Nice tomorrow, v.much looking forward to it. Rookiebaby & myself are mostly packed, rookiehusband has just about managed to pair his socks ( posted about it annoyedly in another thread). However we aren't going until lunchtime, must go and book taxi to airport.....

hulababy · 20/10/2006 18:48

Cod - yes I am hence starting a thread to ask if anyone else was.

Still not packed! Did buy a nice skirt to wear on holiday earlier though

Enid - we bought one especially for this holiday as there is a lot of driving. DD is int he back on her own, and it will be several hours to drive from Sheffield to Folestone and back, plus another hour and half or so in France as well.

The DVD is just an extra entertainment. Two hours of Mary Poppins in the middle of the journey will help it pass more quickly for DD.

Plus we can use it in the evenings in the holiday house. Plug it into their TV and DH and I can watch a film with a glass of wine, whilst DD is in bed.

Ours isn't a proper in car DVD, it is just a little portable one we bought.
