Carvoeiro Evenings

We've spent the last three summer holidays in Luz, and while we love it there, we fancy a change. My main gripe with Luz has always been the perishing evenings- in the 7 weeks we've spent there, only one week has been balmy enough to sit out in the evening in just a dress or t-shirt. All other times it's cardi and sweaters, and rugs pulled around us back at the villa.
While the cool evenings are great for sleeping, I'd prefer to have the option of eating outdoors every evening, rather than having to check if the wind has picked up first. Would Carvoeiro be an improvement, being that bit further east? Does Praia da Luz just have a peculiar micro climate, or is all the Algarve the same? Love, love, love Portugal, so really don't want to change!

We have been to Burgau/Lagos/Salema area a couple of times and whilst we love it we are the same -pool a bit cold when it is windy and have sat at Burgau beach bar with Cardi's and the blankets they supply wrapped around us-in mid July. I wondered if central or Eastern Algarve would be a wee bit warmer?

Same here - love, love, love that area, but it's ffffreezing at night, and I do like to sit outside with a nice glass of something.

Anyone else know?

We've been to Carvoeiro on and off for 10 years now and I would say that summer evenings don't have the problem with the chilly wind that other areas - such as Lagos - have even in the height of summer.

I think that the further west you go in the Algarve, the worse it gets. Carvoeiro does cool down in the evening, but is still fine to be out without a jacket/cardi - and I'd be the first to notice if it wasn't!

Just giving this a little bump..

Thanks for replying naffedoff, that has reassured me so much that I've booked a villa for the end of June! I'll try to remember to find the thread and report back afterwards!
