Luxury self catering Europe with 8 month old

I am looking for recommendations for a luxury aparthotel in Europe for a holiday for my DH, DS (8 mo) and me at the end of April/early May.

We see looking for somewhere where we can mix self catering with the amenities of a hotel restaurant, preferably near a beach and with a short transfer from the airport. The key requirement is a nice apartment with a separate sitting room and terrace/generous balcony where can chill out after DS goes to bed.

We are considering Pine Cliffs Sheraton in the Algarve - has anyone been? Any other recommendations gratefully accepted. We are open to the canaries but would prefer mainland Europe or the Balearics...

ive been trying to find something similar but in a different place and have given up and have rebooked.

Thanks wason. I had considered it but I think that for this holiday we would prefer to be in a village or resort... It looks fab though and I will certainly be paying them a visit when DS is a little older - the owners sound wonderful

Have a look at monte santo resort, Carvoeiro, algarve. We went when ds was 11 months and was perfect-
2 bed apartment so he had his own room and it was pretty posh. About 40m drive from faro airport. Walking distance to the village though there was a free shuttle bus.

Pine Cliffs is lovely, another option is Martinhal (here), also in the Algarve. But Portugal weather is not totally reliable at that time of year, you'd be better off in the Canaries for sunshine, so have a look at Villa Maria (here) too.
